Outreach!
Sila Home is located in a perfect place to minister to the hill tribe people. They strive to not only impact the kids that come live with them, but to make a difference in the surrounding villages. In the future they hope to support the foundation of many other ministries related to the hill tribe people.
As a start, if funding is available, they take all their children to camp out at a remote village for a few days each year to help the local people with labour and to play with the other children. One time a few years ago, Sila Home secured a very small grant for their outreach project so government officials came to see if it was being used properly. They were suspicious and made accusations when they heard that kids and teenagers were helping with the labour and told them they needed to stop. However, they then saw all the kids come back from a trip to a nearby river to get rocks. They were laughing, singing and working joyfully. The government officials were so delighted by the kids joy in serving others that they apologized for doubting the operation and encouraged them to continue.
They will know we are Christians by our joy!
There are ample opportunities to impact the hill tribe people and Sila Home is excited to begin to establish more ways of reaching out to them in the name of Jesus. Sila Home is also a light shining in the darkness of their buddhist community. This year they had a Christmas eve service that drew 400+ people to hear the true meaning of Christmas and enjoy a healthy, fun dinner and show. On New Years Sila home distributes Operation Christmas Child boxes to the neighbours who need it, as well as to hill tribe villages. It is not uncommon to see one of the Sila Home staff in a field or on the street building relationships with the people around them. Even more, the prayer alone that the children and staff at Sila Home raise up, must impact their community.
Sila Home also hosts multiple missionary teams a year for periods up to two months (YWAM or Adventures in Missions). These teams have opportunities to spread the light of Jesus by teaching English at public schools and undertaking local projects.
